The Breakfast Club.

Characters:-

Claire Standish-
Claire is a bit of a princess, everything has to go her way. Claire is girly, she wears the best clothes probably out of all the actors. Claire is popular and a little selfish. Female

John Bender-
John is a criminal and he is a bully, he is'nt very nice to anyone. John is 'wacko' and crazy. He smokes and he thinks he is cool. He ends up falling in love with Claire. Male

Allision Reynolds-
Allision is very quiet, and she appears to be 'emo' or 'goth'. She is strange and 'wacko'. She hardly ever talks during most of the movie and she is a compulsive liar. Female

Brian Johnson-
Brian is the nerd of the group, he is a little shy. He is smart, and he has braces. Male

Andrew Clark-
Andrew is the jock of the group. He wears his state champion jumper for almost the whole movie. Andrew starts to take a strong interest for Allision towards the end of the movie, he falls in love with her. Male

~ Clothing...
Andrew wears his state champion jumper.
Claire wears pastal colours like light pink, and she wears red.
John wears denim and dull colours.
Allision wears black clothing, to give off the dark and lonely impression that we get from the type of personality she has.
Brian wears dull colours such as brown, black, and white.
They all wear a jacket, jumper, or rain coat.

~ Feelings towards each other...
At the start of the film they feel ennoyed by eachother; they dislike each other, they don't know each other all that much, and they call each other names. It changes throughout the film because they get to know each other and they start to like each other.

~ The plot...
The story is about a few teenagers who have to go to a saturday detention class, they hardly know anyone else in the class until they get to know each other in the class. When they start to get to know each other they bully each other, stir each other up, and are annoyed or grossed out by one and other. Although as the story starts to move we see that all the characters talk, meet, and understand and respect each other. They realise things that they didn't before hand about each other, they know things about each other that they didn't know before, they start to realise that they are all different and they all have their ups and downs although everyone of them are unique and different, they like each other they just didn't know it at the start of the film yet. Two relationships start to form as we see at the end of the movie there are kisses. The teenagers get to know each other and one of the boys writes the one essay explaining everyones qualities and stereotypes in it.

~ Settings...
- At a school, in a detention classroom.
- The school yard.
- Inside cars.
- Through the school.

~ Music...
The music in the film was mostly cheary, and happy music; although some music showed concern or sadness. A lot of the music was instrumental. I think this music has been used to make the scene more clearer of what is happening, and to show the audience what moods they should be feeling for that point in the story.

~ Themes/Issues...
- The group have fights and arguments.
- They try to get out of the detention room.
- The differences of each person.
- The love and understanding, and the emotions that show throughout the end of the movie.

-- The issues and themes are different to other teen films i have watched in a few ways; for most of the duration of the movie they are in a detention classroom that is not usually the main point/idea of a teen movie that i have seen, the group of teenagers actually like each other at the end of the film usually when they have 'hated on each other' so much they stay with their opinions of the person and they wouldn't like them as much towards the end, i think that that idea is a little unrealistic because i don't think they would like each other as much even after getting to know each other as they do in this film, they would understand them better and see how they take things in life and how they have strong emotions and feelings about things in their life and family but i still think at least two of the teenagers would still dislike at least one other person.

The Breakfast Club

***

This film is about a group of teenagers that don't know each other all that much at first, although they all have a saturday detention class and when they meet they get to know each other better and share their personal life with each other throughout their detention class. It is a good film for teenagers, it shows the audience that just because people are different doesn't mean they can't become a good friend or get along with some one completely different to them, they just have to get to know them better and realise how great they actually are deep down. 'They only met once, but it changed their lives forever'; quote from the movie. We give The Breakfast Club 3 stars.
